Vermont BCBS, MVP Health owed millions thanks to technical glitch on state exchange
Vermont health insurers may be owed millions of dollars thanks to a technical glitch on the state's insurance exchange, Vermont Health Connect, which told two insurers to stop billing customers, reported Insurance Business. Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and MVP Healthcare are waiting for the state to manually process paperwork to see if they'll be owed money for unpaid premiums. BCBS, which sells more plans in the state, has a policy of keeping plans on their books rather than running the risk of cancelling them by mistake, while MVP canceled policies on its own books to avoid risk. It's unclear just how much money is at stake, but BCBS may be owed up as much as $4 million. Article
