The Obama administration inadvertently added 380,000 standalone dental subscribers to its total count of Affordable Care Act healthcare subscribers, dropping the number of Americans who obtained healthcare through state and federal exchanges to roughly 6.7 million as of Oct. 15-- well short of the original Congressional Budget Office projection of 13 million enrollees.
Despite promises of a smoother enrollment process through the federal health insurance marketplace, some health insurance execs say the way the government plans to notify insurers about enrollment changes could cause confusion and lead to double-billing.
The health insurance marketplace will include 25 percent more insurers next year, according to a Department of Health and Human Services report released yesterday, and the agency says the added competition will mean more choice and lower costs for consumers.
Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell today announced $60 million grant awards to 90 navigator organizations in states with federally-facilitated and state partnership health insurance marketplaces.
