Utah Health Exchange pilot adds four additional large employers

The Utah Health Exchange (UHE) is expanding participation by large-group employers. The UHE, an on-line health insurance marketplace created by the state to increase access to health insurance and control rising premiums for small businesses, had some growing pains when it launched last August due to limited participation and higher-than-anticipated premiums, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. In an attempt to reduce premiums, this February the UHE launched a pilot program for large-employer groups ahead of the original schedule. The large-group pilot had been slated to start in fall 2011. The initial large-group pilot included four employers; the UHE has added four additional employers to the pilot. The eight large employers that are now involved add 40,000 to 50,000 members to the exchange. Article
