Report: Uninsured rate drops 40.7 percent in two years
A new report from researchers at the Urban Institute have found that the rate of uninsured adults ages 18-64 nationwide dropped from 17.6 percent in September 2013 to 10.4 percent in September 2015, a 40.7 percent decrease. Additionally, the research shows that states that did not expand Medicaid coverage have an average uninsured rate more than twice as high as states that did.
Coverage rates climbed among young adults, Hispanics and families with annual incomes that were less than 138 percent of the federal poverty line, so the researchers suggest that enrollment efforts be focused on them, as these groups remain the most likely to be uninsured. Report
