Federal exchanges to see Medicaid application delays

When the health insurance exchanges open Tuesday, some states won't see Medicaid applications right away, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which is coordinating the exchange setup process. Federally-operated marketplaces won't be able to electronically transfer applications from people who are eligible for Medicaid benefits to state offices to complete them. Instead, CMS will provide those applications to states on Nov. 1, a CMS spokesman told The Wall Street Journal. In the meantime, consumers can apply directly with state offices for Medicaid enrollment.
