Another key factor to CoOportunity Health's success has been the deep level of experience and talent among its executive team. "While we're a startup and have 31 employees right now, we average over 25 years experience in the industry, either in health, regulation or insurance," David Lyons, CEO of CoOportunity Health told FierceHealthPayer.

The insurer put that wealth of knowledge to use in multiple ways, including designing its website. Lyons tasked "core marketing and strategy professionals" with the website design so it would "look like what the consumers want to be involved with not what we think they need to see."

And although the team also worked with outside technology and marketing companies to help custom manufacture its vision, Lyons explained, CoOportunity execs designed the website down to its color, font, use of space.

The effort already has paid off: Lyons said the insurer has received "great kudos in how easy our website is to work with."
