Looking forward, CoOportunity Health intends to keep working with its existing business to maintain price competitiveness and consumer engagement with individuals and small businesses. But it's also beginning to focus on retention efforts.

"We have 33,000 members, so we have to make sure that we're giving them every reason, both financial and customer service reasons, to stay with us," David Lyons, CoOportunity Health CEO, told FierceHealthPayer. "That's the only difference in our plan is that we're now implementing the important customer retention efforts and that means engagement, engagement, engagement."

And since CoOporunity Health's overarching goal is to let its members be part of the solution, it will "ramp up wellness and support mechanisms so that it isn't just 33 people here at CoOp that's making a difference," Lyons said. "It's figuring out how to leverage the 33,000 members we have collectively into action. That makes the big difference."
