Medicaid expansion faces roll-back in Ohio

Ohio's Medicaid expansion may not last, University Hospitals Chief Executive Tom Zenty told a Cleveland audience recently. The state's Gov., John Kasich (R), tried to expand Medicaid for months on end, but never received approval from the full state legislature, reports Kaiser Health News. Kasich used Ohio's Controlling Board to expand the program, and had the board accept $2.5 billion in extra funds from the federal government. But since state lawmakers are required to authorize Medicaid spending, it's possible the legislation could roll back the expansion. More than 367,000 eligible residents enrolled in Medicaid since January. Article
