UnitedHealth has expanded its mobile app, Health4Me, to members enrolled in its Medicaid plans. That means UnitedHealth members in 17 states will be able to locate healthcare providers, track processed claims and access their insurance cards, the insurer announced.

The Health4Me app also allows UnitedHealth members to access their personal coverage information, review their care history, track their processed claims and get health information from a nurse.

Plus, UnitedHealth members can pay medical bills, connect with their Fitbit device to track their physical activity and live stream UnitedHealth's TV programming through the mobile app, FierceHealthPayer previously reported.

"UnitedHealthcare Medicaid beneficiaries can easily manage their healthcare, while at home or on the go, with the Health4Me app," Austin Pittman, CEO of UnitedHealth's Medicaid business, said in the announcement. "More people now have important information about their health coverage at their fingertips, helping them make more informed decisions regarding their care."

The Health4Me app is already available to UnitedHealth's more than 13 million members with employer-sponsored plans. The app has been downloaded more than 1.4 million times since 2012.

"We know consumers nationwide use mobile devices to access health information, so Health4Me provides a significant resource for Medicaid beneficiaries to help them more easily understand, manage and use their health benefits," said Brett Edelson, vice president of UnitedHealthcare's Medicaid business. "We are empowering consumers with valuable, personalized health information that enables them to more effectively navigate the healthcare system and access clinical support anytime, anywhere."

The Health4Me is now available to UnitedHealth's Medicaid members in Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.
