Post-King v. Burwell focus shifts to Medicaid expansion, enrollment push
A "cooling-off period" for the Affordable Care Act could cause focus to shift to other matters throughout the healthcare industry, Drew Altman, president and CEO of the Kaiser Family Foundation, writes in a blog post for the Wall Street Journal. For instance, many Republican-led states could reconsider their Medicaid-expansion options by negotiating the terms of waivers with the Department of Health and Human Services. Less controversy surrounding the ACA also would enable a greater push to enroll the remaining uninsured Americans, which ultimately would help stabilize health insurance premiums by increasing the risk pool.
