Montana's plan to put private firm in charge of Medicaid expansion likely to be pricey

Now that Montana has unveiled its plan to expand Medicaid, the state must decide on a private firm to manage the program--and the cost is likely to be high, KRTV.com reports. All four firms that have bid on the contract to manage the state's Medicaid expansion have offered rates higher than Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock's administration estimated. For instance, while the governor estimated a cost of about $6 million to manage the expansion, one firm made a proposal that could cost more than twice that. If Montana's plan receives federal approval, it will be the only state in the country to use a private firm to manage Medicaid expansion. Article
