A doctor and clinic owner in Pennsylvania allegedly bilked Highmark, Capital Blue Cross and Medicare out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, the U.S. Department of Justice announced late last week. Timothy Clark, pulmonologist and owner of The Central Pennsylvania Pulmonary Associates and Sleep Disorder Centers of Central Pennsylvania, has been charged with money laundering and healthcare fraud exceeding $500,000, according to the DOJ. For more than a year, Clark allegedly inflated the amount of time that doctors he employed provided services to patients of Holy Spirit Hospital to fraudulently inflate insurance claims to Medicare, Highmark and Capital Blue Cross. If convicted, Clark faces up to 10 years in prison. Announcement
